So I'm going to talk about art. I wrote a paper about Swiss International Style (also called International Typographic Style) the other day. It was a very badly written paper because I wrote it the day before it was due (yup, that's me), but I learned a lot about the style. It's characterized by a focus on typography, particularly sans serif fonts. It's extremely minimalist and doesn't usually do much in the way of illustration, except maybe some abstract shapes or photography. The pieces have limited color palettes and lots of negative space. Overall, the style is very clear and focused, which makes it popular for advertising. Since then, I've been seeing it everywhere. Books, packaging, logos, etc. It is a very attractive style, and I'm a big fan of negative space used for effect, but I'm also a fan of complexity almost to the point of being over-the-top, so I'd tire of the style quickly.
I've been doodling ecosystems lately. It's weird.
I wrote a villanelle because I'm stupid and masochistic. A villanelle is a type of poem that is structured to the EXTREME. Strict stanza divisions, rhyme scheme (only two rhyming sounds! I had to restart so many times Dx), and use of refrains (which sounds easy, but it has to make sense). Thank goodness it doesn't restrict meter; if I had to use anything shorter than iambic pentameter, I don't think I could have done it. (I LOVE IAMBIC PENTAMETER /lit!geek) Anyway, I'm not uploading it because it's one of those poems that I can never let anyone see.
Have I mentioned that I kind of love
